After taking a great field trip to some important Revolutionary War sites around Boston yesterday, the fifth graders took part in the spring concert. I applaud their effort and think that the songs they performed turned out well.

During math class we began to work with dividing decimals.

Today, the fifth graders took part in a school wide spring concert practice. This is in preparation for Thursday's performance. The fifth graders did a great job.

During math class, we began dividing decimals by powers of ten. This was a nice lesson to kick off the week. This work will be ongoing.

We wrapped up the week by continuing to work with multiplying decimals. The students first worked to estimate their products and then multiplied through the thousandths place.

Students were also able to collaborate with their fantasy book groups on a project that will serve to complete this reading unit.

I hope everyone has a nice long weekend.

The fifth graders began to prepare for next week's field trip to The Old South Meeting House. When we visit this site, the fifth graders will engage in a mock debate. They will imagine themselves as either patriots or loyalists and will engage in a debate concerning the British tax on tea. Each fifth grader will be assigned a role to play at the debate.

We also had another productive writing session during our ELA time.

As a reminder, all permission slips for next week's field trip should be returned by this Friday.
