The students competed in a spirited game of Revolutionary War trivia during social studies today. The members of 312 spent time over the last few days creating questions of varying degrees of difficulty. They did a nice job with that and the game today was an enjoyable way to officially wrap up the unit.

During math class, the students worked on some Tizits. These 3-D optical illusion puzzles were a big hit. We also continued to work on some volume problems, that were a continuation of yesterday's work.

Tomorrow, room 312 will also have a second round of show and tell. Students are encouraged to bring in one (1) item that has significant meaning to them. Items should be appropriate for school and students are also responsible for whatever they are bringing into the building.

A very big day for the members of room 312. All members of the class have now published a finished copy of their informational writing pieces. These papers took weeks of work on the students part. Lots of research, drafting and editing went into this effort. The students impressed me with their dedication to this project. I am very happy with the results. Each student will be receiving a hard copy of their writing, families should absolutely ask to read these.

During math class, the class used manipulatives to deal with some volume problems. The students used prior work with area and volume problems to start tackling this new batch of work.

The students are hard at work crafting concrete poems during our ELA time. Once again, the fifth graders are throwing all of their creativity into this and the early results are quite promising.

Earlier in the day, the students scoured a few different online sources to prepare Revolutionary War trivia questions. As we are winding down this unit, the students want the opportunity to test each other's knowledge. Tomorrow, the members of 312 will take the trivia challenge.
