During social studies, the fifth graders investigated the next domino to fall on the road to the American Revolution. The Proclamation of 1763 provided a jumping off point for a persuasive letter writing assignment. The students are going to attempt to convince the King of England to chose a middle ground to avert the coming war. I thought that this was a positive lesson.
Later in the school day, the students continued to collect information about a potential topic for their information writing. I continue to encourage all students to make a trip to their local library outside of school to look to supplement their research inside the classroom.
