2/11/15

It was nice to finally see my students today after another extended snow absence. Students came in to class today ready to work. I explained to my students that we have a lot to accomplish in this short week before vacation and I am confident that all students will put their best foot forward.

During our writing block, room 312 began to look at their use of transition words in their body paragraphs. I have liked what I have seen and heard from my students concerning their first opinion writing pieces. The goal is for all students to complete the first draft of their papers by the end of this week. When we return from the February break, students will begin to publish their final drafts.

The New England colonies were the topic of discussion during social studies today. Students are going to start focusing in on important people and events in this region, as well as important sources of industry. Over he course of the next few days, students will then turn their focus to the middle and southern colonies. Eventually, students will be assigned groups, in which they will put together a report concerning these early regions.
